Keeping Jesus the Focus of the Season
Christmas is fast approaching and nearly 10 days away, but for the remaining days, hopefully as well throughout this Holiday Season, we have been keeping in mind...The REASON of the SEASON.
A few ideas we can do to keep our focus on Jesus.
1. During each remaining day before Christmas...Thank God for His Son and His gift of eternal life.
2. Incorporate the simplicity and peace of the true Christmas spirit into your holiday.
3. Begin one new tradition this year which incorporates the true meaning of Christmas.
4. Make a birthday cake out of breakfast breads, or bake a small cake or cup cakes. Serve it Christmas morning while everyone sings Happy Birthday to Jesus.
5. Take turns with your family members reading the Christmas story from the second chapter of Luke before opening the gifts.
(Luke 2:8-14)
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them; and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
Noticed that it said brought good tidings and great joy to ALL. That means you and me and everyone we know and then beyond. He came for us all.
Ruth Bell Graham shared about this gift this way:
"This is Christmas - the real meaning of it.
God loving, searching; giving Himself - to us.
Man needing; receiving, giving himself - to God.
Redemption's glorious exchange of gifts!
Without which we cannot live;
Without which we cannot give to those we love anything of lasting value.
This is the meaning of Christmas - the wonder and the glory of it."
